LOVING MY HUSBAND FRIDAY & FRIDAY FOTOS & "HOMEMAKER'S HEAVEN"

Loving My Husband Friday is for taking the time to focus on the positives of marriage. A time to build up your marriage and your spouse. Focus on something you love about your husband,something he did to encourage you this week, or just a tip on how to keep your marriage strong. Let your husband know you're bragging on him...everyone loves praise and accolades. Try to spend the rest of your week focusing on all the great traits of your spouse...especially when your tempted to focus on the bad! And don't forget to pray for your husband and marriage as you write your post.Add a link to your post to Mr. Linky. Then pray for the marriages of the others who post, and give each other a little encouragement to keep our marriages strong!

Today, I love that my husband knows all about me and still loves me.

I love that other people choose him for important roles in the community and to support the local school, because they see his leadership skills, "people skills", firendliness, integrity,. . .Christian characteristics.
I love looking back at old pictures from the time we began our family to now. Today, I want to focus on the present and the future, on helping our family to continue to grow, as a Christian family.
Valencia's assignment today, at
is to share links with tips that help make your house a home.
I am in total agreement with Valencia about her philosophy of homemaking as a ministry, but she really amazes me with how she does it with a large family.
is full of ideas and tips.
I am not as organized as Flylady, Valencia and many of you. I do try.
Flylady says "It starts with a clean sink." That is true. I love that my husband cleans my sink for me sometimes.
I am learning that what makes my house a home is when Mama is smiling, when I let them in the kitchen with me or when I sit down with them for a game of Farkle or something else, a movie, a really good talk, Bible study and prayer.

I do love being Wife and Mom!
How 'bout you?

THANKFUL THURSDAY

It's Thursday. . .time to join Sonya @ http://truth4thejourney.blogspot.com/
and another group that has been hosted by Lynn @ http://unequalmarriage.typepad.com
to share what we are thankful for.
Sonya asks that we make a list of 5 things.
Lynn is using the theme of Summer this time, but I used that theme at the beginning of the month.

I have been spending a lot of time thinking about what to share that I am thankful for, that I haven't already been sharing about. (my family, Jennifer's Rothschild's Bible study-Me, Myself and Lies, etc.) I am really ALWAYS thankful, but it doesn't always come out in my actions.

Today, I am thankful for these last 2 weeks of my Summer, to

1. spend with Kalyn, before she goes back to college.
2. spend with Jase, before he begins another year of school.
3. prepare for my new job, new school year.

I AM very thankful for
4. my family
and for
5. Jennifer Rothschild,

who, in the words of my daughter, remind me to "chill out" (speak more kindly to others)
and in the words of Jennifer Rothschild,
"If we combine our effort with power, God's power, we will sing a victory song, just like Deborah did!"
Jennifer shared the words of a wise penguin in the movie, Happy Feet,
"Triumph is just trying with a little 'umph'!"

Psalm 84:5NIV

Blessed are those whose strength is in You, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage.

Psalm 84:5 Personalized by me

I am blessed!
My strength is in the Lord!
I have set my heart on following the Lord!

I hope that you will join in sharing what you are thankful for today, and have a very Thankful Thursday!

IN HIS WORD WEDNESDAY

My whole blog is mostly about sharing scripture and my prayers. Today, I am linking up with Megan and others at http://www.dailyessentialsanddeals.blogspot.com/ to share how God is speaking to me.

I am really loving Jennifer Rothschild's Bible Study, Me, Myself and Lies.
I love that she uses scripture from all over the Bible! The Bible Study is about cleaning out your "thought closet". Before I began the study, I already tried really hard to always have a positive outlook, but it doesn't always come out right.
The whole study has really been great. I am so excited that I am almost to the end and will be finished just in time to prepare to try to do this study with a group of high school girls. I think it is awesome that two moms in the blog group for this study, are doing it with their 9 and 10 year old daughters. Helping girls to work on their "thought closets" and to see themselves as God created them is so important.

For specific scripture to share today, like Megan, Delight is a word that keeps coming to me this week. (See yesterday's post.)
The passage I want to share today is Psalm 119, but it is so long, so you need to go read it, when you get a chance.
Here are some highlights. This is my prayer today.:

Psalm 119 NIV

11 I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.
12 Praise be to You, O Lord; teach me Your decrees.
13 With my lips I recount all the laws that come from Your mouth.
14 I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.
15 I meditate on Your precepts and consider Your ways.
16 I delight in Your decrees; I will not neglect Your word.

29 Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me through Your law.
30 I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart on Your laws.
31 I hold fast to Your statutes, O Lord; do not let me be put to shame.
32 I run in the path of your commands, for You have set my heart free.
33 Teach me, O Lord to follow Your decrees; then I will keep them to the end.
34 Give me understanding, and I will keep your law and obey it with all my heart.
35 Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.
36 Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.
37 Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to
Your word.
38 Fulfill Your promise to Your servant, so that You may be feared.

. . .It is all really good! : )

66 Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I believe in Your commands.

105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

7 Wonders of the Week
If you have read my 7 Wonders of the Week before, you know I don't usually repeat the word wonderful. That is just how it is coming out this week. I usually have 7 wonders for the week that are different than what I will write about being thankful for tomorrow. Wonders are like "small miracles", but no miracle is small!

1. My Wonderful husband loves me.
2. all 3 of my Wonderful children. . .who are not children any more.
3. Madasyn, my granddaughter is absolutely Wonderful, as all grandchildren are!
4. The timing of Kalyn's summer job ending so that she has a few weeks with us
is wonderful!
5. Jase wants to share the Bible with everyone he meets, and he has been busy
"cleaning up God's creation."
6. God provided me with a great car, after I have been without a car of my own
for 29 months.
7. Jesus loves me.

Today, on Valencia's blog anniversary party at http://buildethherhousewithlove.blogspot.com/
she is focusing on how we can be our husband's help meet.

I really love Proverbs 31, Ephesians 5 and Titus 2. Another verse that I commited to memory is

Proverbs 14:1NIV

Every wise woman builds her house, but a foolish one tears it down with her own hands.

I have already been joining others to write about my love for my husband on Fridays, and I will be writing a lot about my love for him next week, since we will be celebrating our 27th anniversary on August 7.

In my wedding vows that I wrote, I said "I will submit to you" and some older women commented negatively about that, but I knew that it is Biblical. Even after 27 years, I am sometimes "defensive". I have worked on trying not to be "forever", but I am really working hard on it now. Actually, I am learning a lot through the Me, Myself and Lies study, to help me give that to the Lord. I always knew that I couldn't do it by myself. I have "tried" to give it to the Lord bofore, but. . .am trying again in a different way.

I hope that you will share how God has been speaking to you and/or providing Wonders in your life and/or something about what makes your marriage work the way God intended.

MONDAY'S MAMA MOMENTS

After I had already posted my Mama Moments, below, I went to Valencia's blog at http://buildethherhousewithlove.blogspot.com/

She is celebrating her one year blog anniversary. She asked readers to write a post telling all about ourself, and she also gave a link to a Mom Personality Quiz.

I took the quiz 3 times! I didn't exactly like my first result of ESPN Mom. The second time that I took it, I got the Wii Mom, and the the third time, I got ESPN Mom again.

The fact on the ESPN result that I like to give my children a lot of choices is true, and we did do dance, piano, all sports, some gymnastics and some guitar, but not all at the same time. The result on the Wii Mom about being beside my children, but trying not to hover, was true.

I was going to write more about myself, but my kids are ready to go to lunch. Gotta go! There is enough info. in my about me sidebar and I also have new blog about me as a teacher.

  • Josh spent his last week day off work with us.
  • Jase and I met Kalyn and her girlfriends from her summer camp job for lunch on Saturday, before they went to Six Flags.
  • They invited Jase to go with them, and they had a great time. While there, Jase asked a Six Flags worker if he could tell her a story. He told her the story of the woman in the Bible who had the 12 year bleeding issue, and her Faith healed her. The worker told Jase thank you.
  • Kalyn is home!!!
  • I love hearing Kalyn's voice, all of the stories she has to tell us, hearing her voice together with Jase's voice, hearing her voice together with her Dad's voice.
  • It was a Mama moment for me, when I heard the Dad of my children having his quiet time, as he began his prayer, he said Father out loud, talking to our heavenly Father about our family.
  • lunch and Wal-Mart with Kalyn and Jase and running in the rain.

"Granma-ma Moments"

  • Madasyn is just fine with her Daddy and Mommy leaving her with us for a little while.
  • I love hearing and watching her "read" a whole book with expression!
  • I love the way she enjoys looking at old pictures of our family.

Same great scripture applies again!

Psalm 145:4-5

One generation will commend Your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts. They will speak of the glorious spendor of Your majesty; and I will meditate on Your wonderful works.

SUNDAY SONG

SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL
Something beautiful, something good,
All my confusion He understood;
All I had to offer Him was brokenness and strife,
He made something beautiful of my life.
-------------------------------------------------------------
I wish I could write a song to welcome Kalyn home. She, a girl friend from her summer camp job, and Jase are almost home, from Six Flags.
I am so thankful that she was able to work at Falls Creek this summer, that she enjoyed it so much, that it was good for her, and
that we will have a few weeks with her, before she goes back to college!
Psalm 37:4NIV
Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
I already had this posted. It fits with what Amy is doing at
so I am linking up.
I hope you will, too.

FRIDAY'S FOTOS

Kalyn and her cousin, who is like a sister to her, Melanie

We are so happy that tomorrow, Kalyn will be home! Jase said "Yay!"

In less than a month, she will go back to OBU to continue her studies, and to welcome Melanie! We will be praying for both of them.

Tell Me About it Thursday

I found this assignment on another "Mrs. Sandy"'s blog, http://mom2howells.blogspot.com/
Not only do we share the same name, we also share the same favorite author and books. and I thought about naming my blog,"One Day at a Time", as she did.
Anyway, her assignment for today, is to tell something about your childhood.
I loved this, because I didn't think I could remember much about my childhood, but once I started thinking about it, memories started flooding in.
My favorite memory is already mentioned over on my About Me sidebar, but I am very glad to tell you the whole story.
I was passing notes in church one Sunday night. My Dad told me that I was going to get a spanking when I got home. As soon as we got home, I did get a spanking.
THEN, he sat me in his lap, opened his Bible to Romans and told me about Jesus dying for my sins. I was ready to ask Jesus into my heart. We went to my bedroom, knelt down together by my bed, and I prayed to ask Jesus into my heart. Then, we called my pastor and told him. I was baptized the next Sunday.
I have many more special memories. . .
eating breakfast and supper almost every day as a family
Saturday morning breakfast dates with my Dad
family vacations, especially the one to Washington, D.C. in 1976
G.A.'s, Bluebirds, Campfire,
swimming and picnicing on the beach
going to church
special memory at school:
4th grade-Mrs. Ayres, stood outside her room with our group of girls, helping us to work out an argument. . .she cared about us.
I had a great childhood!
Thank you, Mom and Dad!

THANKFUL THURSDAY. . .

Today, I am thankful for CHRISTIAN FRIENDSHIPS, not just friends who are Christians, but Christian Friendships.
1. As always, first, I am thankful for my personal relationship with Jesus. He truly is
my friend!

2. Then, I am thankful that my husband and I do have a Christian friendship.

3. I also truly have a Christian friendship with each of our children;
my parents; my mom in law; my brothers and each of my sisters in law.

4. Now, I am thankful that the emphasis at Falls Creek youth camp was
the difference in just having friends who are Christians and actually
having Christian friendships.

5. I am thankful for the many Christian blogger friends that I have found.

Now, I know you are thankful. Write a post about 5 things that you are thankful for today, and then link up with
Sonya at http://truth4thejourney.blogspot.com/
and Lynn at http://unequalmarriage.typepad.com/
so that others will come read your post and you can enjoy reading a lot of others.
Have a Thankful Thursday!

WEDNESDAY'S 7 WONDERS OF THE WEEK

1. The man who was scheduled to speak at Falls Creek last week had to go to China to
get his baby girl that he and his wife are adopting.
God meant for Andy Harrison to speak last week. He did a wonderful job sharing God's
Word.

2. God blessed me with an amazing family group of girls to lead:
5 girls all sure of their salvation, 1 college girl and another woman who I had only spoken
to once before, but now have gotten to know and love very much

3. The girls are joyfully anxious to continue meeting together.

4. The Falls Creek theme this year has encouraged and equipped THOUSANDS of
teenagers to go back home and form "Echo" groups.

5. Many people accepted Jesus as their Savior and many made a recommitment.

6. God is helping us to find the right car to purchase. I HAVE to have a car to get to my
new job. God always provides.

7. God is working on my heart!

God gives us all "wonders" every day! Please share some of yours.

GROUP BIBLE STUDY TUESDAY/ECHO (accountability) Groups

The LPM Summer Siesta Bible Study
Me, Myself and Lies by Jennifer Rothschild
Weeks 3 & 4-Session 3
Jennifer shares the story about being stuck on a plane and the little girl near her playing "I Spy" with her Daddy, and then saying to her daddy, “I spy something good.”
Yes, that did speak to me. I need to remind myself constantly to "spy lots of things good!"

Quotes from Jennifer Rothschild:

“Never let the Enemy be more aware of your weaknesses than you are.”

"A surplus of emotion usually precedes acting without wisdom."

"When we walk with wisdom, it will wear off on us."

"Three Rs to wisdom: Request it, Revere God, and Receive counsel."

"Soul talk is faith's companion, not its replacement."

"The Holy Spirit is Advocate, Defender, Helper, Comforter, and Counselor, a representative of Christ, a Teacher, and the One who reminds us of truth."

"The Holy Spirit's guidance always lines up with the truth of God's Word."

"We need a mentor who can offer wisdom that reaches beyond our own."

"You can choose to place praiseworthy thoughts in your thought closet."

"Our thought closets need daily attention to keep them as Christ intended."

"Asking God to search your heart is a way to be spiritually alert."

"The Holy Spirit can counsel you about the voices you hear and help you tune in to God's."

'Every thought we think is not necessarily our own."

"The Holy Spirt can help us control our thoughts."

"Prayer is the best densive and offensive weapon we as Christ followers have."

"We must fight spiritual battles with spiritual weapons."

"The One who lives within you is greater than the one who roars at the door!"

"Stilling our souls brings peace and calm into our thought closets."

"Just because you don't express anger overtly doesn't mean you don't experience anger."

"We all have desires that battle with us."

"We all need wisdom to recognize and speak truth."

The Interactive Part of this Post:

Do you have a framework set up in your life for consistent accountability? Do you have at least one person in your life who holds you accountable in your pursuit of God and godliness and doesn’t just help you stay comfortable in your strongholds? Look at Jennifer’s statement: “The Enemy goes after the solitary and the silent.” Discuss the fears involved in opening up to accountability and the solutions to those fears. What holds us back? Is it time? Exposure? Fear of confidence being betrayed? Talk about fears, solutions, and the importance of taking the chance.

My answer:
My husband and I do have an Accountability Partner relationship, but I do still have to work on my defensiveness. I Am working on it.

At Falls Creek youth camp, the theme was Echo, relating to Psalm 145:4-5 and our church theme was Cornerstone. . .We are Living Stones. . .I Peter 2:5. I think it is so awesome that thousands of teenagers were encouraged to go back home and form
"Echo" (Accountability) groups.
The girls who were in my family group said Yes!, very excitedly, that they want to continue meeting as a group, one Saturday a month, beginning Aug. 29, for Bible Study, Prayer and a Service Project. I am very excited to be involved with these girls.

I am still looking for the women that I would like to form an Echo/Accountability group with.

Please share with me

Another Kind of Monday's Mama Moments

Here it is again. . .Psalm 145:4-5

One generation will commend your works to another,
they will tell of your mighty acts.
They will speak of the GLORIOUS SPENDOR of
YOUR MAJESTY;
and I will MEDITATE on YOUR WONDERFUL WORKS.

My heart is trembling with joy and sorrow at the same time for the wonderul bunch of young people that I had the privilege of spending last week with.
I'm having an extra thought provoking Mama Moment Monday, because I am praying for each one of those people especially for the ones who really have no home life and the ones who need and want their parents time and love;
praying to ask God where and how exactly He wants me to join Him in His work with them;
praying that God will use me to minister as much as I can to my new students and that I'll be able to help them learn.

Another kind of Mama Moment from that heart to heart we had with Jase. . .
knowing that Jeff and I have raised all 3 of our children to love the Lord, but wishing we could get back those childhood years to do a better job of teaching them HOW to STUDY the Bible better.

Can't let Satan keep beating us up about that. Just have to start now doing the best that we all can do.

Okay, here's what I would like for you to do. . .
Comment about. . .

how your parents taught you about the Lord

how you are teaching your children and/or other children and youth about the Lord.

some specific ways that You study the Bible

MONDAY'S MAMA MOMENTS

This post is a place for you to share your recent "mama moments", meaning those moments that your heart skipped a beat just because you're a mom.
It could be when your heart was bursting with pride because of something special your child did or it could be a moment when your heart was breaking for your child. Either way, I hope you'll share some of your "mama moments" with us.
Here are mine for this past week.

  • hearing Kalyn crying on the phone, saying

"I'm just so ready to see you all.";

  • all of the moments that we got to be with Kalyn at Falls Creek this past week;
  • Kalyn promised each of us, Jeff, Jase and me that she would tell us what was bothering her, but she never did.
  • a heart to heart talk between Jase, Jeff and myself
  • an invitation on Facebook from Jase to join his Echo Scripture memory and prayer request group
  • reading Jase's Facebook status about God at work
  • missing Josh, Adrianne and Madasyn

Please share.

PSALM SATURDAY. . .SATURDAY'S SAYINGS

Psalm 139NIV
O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue; you know it completely, O Lord. You hem me in--behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," even the darkness will not be dark to you, the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand When I awake, I am still with you. If only you would slay the wicked, O God! Away from you blood thirsty men! They speak of you with evil intent; your adversaries misuse your name. Do I not hate those who hate you, O Lord, and abhor those who rise up against you? I have nothing but hatred for them; I count them my enemies. Search me, O God, and know my heart, test me and know my anxious thoughts, See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

SATURDAY'S SAYINGS
"Echo Group". . ."Accountability". . ."Get Connected". . ."Encourage One Another". . .

I Thessalonians 5:11NIV
Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

SCRIPTURE MEMORY MONDAY

I know I'm being a little repetitive this week. (same scripture for Psalm Saturday and today) I already had the scripture chosen for today. It is the theme scripture for Falls Creek this summer. I like it, am going to have it memorized, and. . .repetition is what it takes to memorize!

Psalm 145:4-5NIV

One generation will commend your works to another,

they will tell of your mighty acts.

They will speak of the glorious spendor of your majesty;

and I will meditate on your wonderful works.

We are gone to Falls Creek now. I will definitely be in awe of the glorious spendor of His majesty and will be meditating on His wonderful works. Please be in prayer for all of the youth, sponsors and staff at this Christian camp and all other camps this week, that lifes will be changed and that all will stay well in the heat.

Please pray for me, that I will be able to communicate His love to the high school girls that are placed in my family group for the week.

Thank you! I'll be back with a different Psalm and something special for Saturday's Sayings.I hope your week is blessed!

SUNDAY SONG

UNDBOUNDED GRACE
Unbounded grace,
it reached to me,
when hope was gone from view.
In my despair, Christ came to me,
as He alone could do.
Grace was for me, the only way
my guilt could find relief.
My destiny was changed that day,
I reached out in belief.
God's grace does not on me depend.
It's God who is my stay,
His love is offered without end.
He walks with me each day.
The universe with joy will ring
when grace has won the day;
as all creation joins to sing,
"Praise God who paid man's way!"
Unbounded grace,
Amazing grace!

SATURDAY'S SAYINGS. . .PSALM SATURDAY. . .

Check out Collette's blog,
http://jesuslovesmums.blogspot.com/

Psalm 145:4-5NIV
One generation will commend your works to another;
they will tell of your mighty acts.
They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty;
and I will meditate on your wonderful works.

"PASS IT ON"

Last month, before going to camp with middle school students, I posted the song,
"Pass It On", that was the Falls Creek song when I was a teenager.

Today, I'm posting it as the phrase. I think these three words have a lot of meaning, and this phrase goes with this year's Falls Creek theme of
ECHO. . .one generation to another.

PASS IT ON. . .
  • to everyone you come in contact with;

  • to the world;

  • one generation to another.

What is IT that we are passing on? That's where the meaning comes in.

Galatians 5:13NIV

You my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.

Galatians 6:9-10NIV

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Colossians 4:5-6NIV

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, sesoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

I Peter 4:10-11NIV

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ, To Him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

What is it that we are to pass on?

It can be. . .

God's Love;

The Gospel message;

your beliefs;

your talents;

your service

a song;

a lot of your own music;

your writing, including your blog;

your love for people;

your love for animals;

your habits;

your thoughts;

your words;

your encouragement;

your smile;

your guidance;

your Legacy.

What is it that you want most

to PASS ON? PLEASE PASS IT ON TO US.

LOVING MY HUSBAND FRIDAY

I'm joining Shannon and others again at http://mominin-thepeerreview.blogspot.com/
to focus on something that we are thankful for about our husbands this week, or ways to show love to your husband or positive things about your marriage. Of course, all of us doing this, love
our husbands every day. This is just a day to focus on special things and to pray for our marrriage and the marriages of the others doing this with us.
Megan is continuing to add to her list of ways to show love to your husband.
Shannon said that her husband's inner strength is one of the things she loves about him. This is very true for me, too.
I do love that my husband has always come through tough times still standing strong and that he has always been strong for our family.
I love that he is my Best Friend.
I love that he calls me "Beautiful" and makes me feel special.
I love that he has a special relationship with each one of our children.
I love that he has wisdom to share with them.
I love that he prays with me and for each one of us every day.
I love that he is spending his vacation time as a sponsor at Falls Creek next week. This is for today and next Friday since I will be lovin' the worship and special time with him there.

THANKFUL THURSDAY. . .

Previously, "THURSDAY'S THANKFUL THOUGHTS"

I started writing my Thursday's Thankful Thoughts about 5 weeks ago, knowing that it wasn't original to put Thankful together with Thursday, since they both start with Th and also since our once a year Thanksgiving Day is always on Thursday.

I am just always saying "I'm thankful for. . ." because I do have a lot to be thankful for. I don't always show it, but I try.

Now, I am trying really hard to join Sonya and other blogger friends at
http://truth4thejourney.blogspot.com/
I tried several times to get her Thankful Thursday button, and she gave very simple directions, but I just can't seem to get it. I'm going to go ahead and post my thankful thoughts for today and join in with the others. I will get the button on eventually.

Today, I am thankful for my FAMILY!

1. I am extremely thankful for my husband and everything that he does for our family.

2. This week, along with just being thankful for each of our 3 kids, and that each have a
strong relationship with Jesus Christ. . .I am specifically thankful that each do like to
cook and help in the kitchen. This week, Jase has been doing that a lot, and we
have enjoyed it very much!

3. I am thankful that Josh is such a good husband and Daddy!; thankful for the beautiful
and fun granddaughter that he and Adrianne blessed us with; once again, thankful
for a visit from them.

4. I am thankful that we had Kalyn home last weekend and that she is lovin' her job so much.

5. I am thankful that Jase is posting memory verses around the house.

It's so hard to limit to 5. My extended family might be next week.

Now, please join in and share your thankful thoughts for this Thursday!

GROUP BIBLE STUDY TUESDAY

"Summer Siesta Bible Study" Session 2
ME, MYSELF & LIES by Jennifer Rothschild, led by Beth Moore

My answers to today's interactive questions. Some of these are questions, that even if you are not doing this Bible study right now, you could still answer.

1. On a scale of 1-10, how much do you need this study right now?

10-Because, since I have already been meditating on God's word and striving to think and act postive, I thought that I didn't really have much of a problem with my thought closet, but I do! Not that my thought closet is a 10 in negativity, but that my need for this study at this particular time is a 10. This is a great time for it, right before I begin a new job, and at a new stage in my motherhood life, wanting to be able to use my past mistakes as a ministry for God-without being too vulnerable, still wanting to be the best wife, mom, daughter, daugher-in-law, sister, friend, neighbor, teacher, Christian that I can be.

2. Jennifer says, "Who I am and what I struggle with are not the same thing."
How and Why did this resonate with you and what do you struggle the most with?

My struggle is being able to communicte verbally.

3. What is your definitioin of worry, in your own words?

Not trusting God

*Please at least share your answer to this one. Beth shared her answer of continuing to "gnaw on a fear bone" and one of her group members:
"scarying myself-going to my own horror movie in my mind-without any treats"

4. What are your "faulty assumptions"?

I will be coming back to this one. I know that I do have faulty assumptions, but I don't know what they are, yet.

Please share your comments.

SCRIPTURE MEMORY MONDAY

I have said it several times before, but seriously. . .The Bible really is so good!. . .all of it!. . .
That's the title of my blog. . .Scripture and Prayer to Share. . .because that is what it started out being and that and more is what I want it to be. . .not that I can add much more to God's word and my prayers!
When I am reading my Bible, each verse speaks to me and I want to commit it all to memory.

Here are the verses I chose and posted on the LPM blog on July 1st, thinking of what God wants for America and for each of us.

Isaiah 7:9NIV

If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.

2 Chronicles 7:14NIV

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

SUNDAY SONG

SLOW FADE
by Casting Crowns
Be careful little eyes what you see
It's the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it's the little feet behind you that are sure to follow
It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
It's a slow fade, it's a slow fade
Be careful little ears what you hear
When flattery leads to compromise, the end is always near
Be careful little lips what you say
For empty words and promises lead broken hearts astray
It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
The journey from your mind to your hands
Is shorter than you're thinking
Be careful if you think you stand
You just might be sinkingIt's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day
Oh be careful little eyes what see
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little eyes what you see

SATURDAY'S SAYINGS. . .

(This post was in my head yesterday, but couldn't get on the computer til today. Other things (people) were more important.)

Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow.
The shadow is what we think of it;
the tree is the real thing.
Abraham Lincoln

Remember what is important.
Luke 10:41-42
"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things,
but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.'

PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH.

I had thought that I would be finding some kind of patriotic quote to post, but this. . .
"practice what you preach" is what just kept repeatedly coming up in a sermon, my Bible study, conversation. . ."

On Friday, I had posted my little ENJOY acrostic message to you all. Telling you to be Excited to be with your family/friends, Not to fret over little things, or anything for that matter,
Just to have fun together, Overlook the crowedness and Yes! Be thankful for our freedom and blessings.
Well, I meant that with all my heart, and intended to practice it, but then, as my husband and family says, I "overdid it". (not overdid the enjoying, overdid the doing)

Next year, I will try to find the time to get to the store and prepare the meal in advance, so that I won't be in the kitchen when my family is here. Even though I do enjoy cooking, I enjoy being with my family more. I do enjoy their help, too, but my kitchen just isn't big enough for it right now.
I did have a very enjoyable and memorable 4th of July weekend.
We did enjoy the family that were here and are enjoying Kalyn home for the weekend.

We enjoyed the very patriotic worship service this morning, honoring our Lord and those special people who have fought for our country.

We still have our church fellowship and fireworks to look forward to this evening.

I do not want to be a hypocrite. I am going to continue to try to "practice what I preach" or
Be what I Blog.

Thank you very much for taking time to read my blog. I love comments.
What was special about your 4th of July weekend?
