Memory Verses 2009

(Beginning with the last and going backwards. The first passage, Luke 2, was for Nov. 15. I had verses for Dec. 1 & 15, but they were verses that I had posted earlier.)


Luke 2: 1-20
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)
And everyone went to his own town to register.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He wnet htere to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and as expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and sh gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for htem in the inn.
An there were shepherds living out in the fielsds nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the lOrd appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to tehm, "Do not be aftaid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be sign to you: You will find a baby wraped in cloths and lying in a manger.Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven,t he shepherds said to one another,
"Let's go to Bethlehem and see this things that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."
So they hurried off and ound Mary and Josheph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

1 Peter 1:13-16
Therefore, prepare your minds for action, be self-controlled , set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.
As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.
But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written; "Be holy, because I am holy."

I Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient;love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices ith the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.



Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work;
If one falls down, his friend can help him up. but pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm, But how can one keep warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.





Deuteronomy 6:5-9
Love the Lord, your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.
Impress tem on your children.
Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road; when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your homes and on your gates.


Psalm 145:4-5
One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts.
They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty; and I will meditate on your wonderful works.

Isaiah 7:9
If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.


2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal thir land.


Psalm 112:1-8
Praise the Lord. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in his commands. His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.
Even in darkness, light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man. Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs with justice. Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever.He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end, he will look in triumph on his foes.

Psalm 77:11-12
I will remember the deeds of the Lord. Yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.


2 Corinthians 9:12
This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people, but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.


2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all you need, you will abound in every good work.


Proverbs 3:3
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.

James 1:19-20
My dear brothers, take note of this:
Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,
for a man's anger does not bring about the rightous life that God desires.

Ephesians 5:33b . . .and the wife must respect her husband.

Titus 2:3-5
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children,
to be self-controlled and pure; to be busy at home, to be kind and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.


Psalm 54:2
Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.

I Peter 4:10-11
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully adminstering God's grace in it's various forms.
If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things, God may be praised trough Jesus Christ. To him be the glory, and the power, forever and ever. Amen

2 Timothy 2:23-24
Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not quarrel, instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.

I Thessalonians 5:12-13
Now, we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love, because of their work. Live in peace with each other.


Collosians 4:5-6
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Collosians 3:12-17
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues, put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body, you were called to peace. Psalm 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my rock, my redeemer.

Phillipians 4:4-9, 13
Rejoice in the Lord always and again, I say Rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men, The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, let your requests be make known to God , and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally brothers, whatever things are true; whatever things are noble; whatever things are just; whatever things are pure; whatever things are lovely; whatever things are of good report; if there is anything praisweworthy, meditate on these things. The things which you have learned and receivecd and heard and saw in me, these do; and the God of peace will be with you.
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

Psalm 5:3
My voice you shall hear in the morning, O Lord. In the morning, I will direct it to you, and I will look up!

I Thessalonians 4:11-12
Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

Proverbs 28:11-12
A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
Like an earring of gold, or an ornament of fine gold is a wise man's rebuke to a listening ear.

Proverbs 27:17
As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

Proverbs 31:10-12
A wife of noble character, who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.

Proverbs 3:5-8NIV
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
