SPIRITUAL SUNDAYS. . .the complete Serenity Prayer

I know that you are probably very familiar with the short version of the SERENITY PRAYER, and may even know this complete version. Just wanted to share it with all of you this weekend.

Prayer for Serenity

God, grant me the serenity

to aceept the things I cannot change,

the courage to change the things I can,

and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time,

enjoying one moment at a time;

accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;

taking, as Jesus did,

this sinful world as it is,

not as I would have it;

trusting that You will make all things right

if I surrender to Your will;

so that I may be reasonably happy in this life,

and supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen.

  3. Hi! Sandy, just took a quick break from cleaning this morning and I so needed this reminder! I have never read past the last sentence of this prayer (the wisdom to know the difference)...I was not aware that there was more to this! Loved It!

  4. Wow. I never knew there was more to that prayer. Thanks so much for sharing it! The words that jumped out at me are "if I surrender to Your will...." Happy Spiritual Sunday. I posted on both my blogs this week...

  6. Hi Sandy,

    I've never read this prayer before but it speaks such truth regarding a trust in God. I particularly enjoyed reading this part:
    "so that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
    and supremely happy with You forever in the next
    "

    Blessings and peace.

  8. I have never read the whole version. I only knew the first four lines. Thanks for sharing.

  9. I'm familiar with the first four lines, but what a blessing to read the rest of the prayer. I want to memorize the rest of it. "Taking this sinful world as it is." So many times we want the world to change -- and it won't -- but we can accept life, ajusting as we go. I'm so happy you posted this.
