TUESDAY'S Tasty Recipe and "To Tell the Truth"
Throne Trip Tuesdays - Trust for More , but not as well written. She did a wonderful job of sharing this!
What I wanted to say was that, Jesus told us,
"You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world" (John 16:33).
and we were also told,
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also claled, those he called, he also justified, those he justified, he also glorified."
Romans 8:28-30NIV
I want to be able to write more to share with you. I am working on it.
Today's Tasty Recipe. . .
Grandma's Red Top Stew
(adapted by me-You can just cook it all on the pot on the stove, but I like to put it in the crock pot, and let it cook all day.)
My grandma just cooked potatoes, and added canned chili and tomatos to the pot, including the water that the potatoes are cooking in. I like some carrots in mine, and I have used this recipe for "Friendship Stew" or Stone Soup at school, with all kinds of canned vegetables, brought from the students.
The can chili really makes this great. I think maybe the best that I have used is Wolf Brand, but I have also used Hormel.
6 potatoes sliced and cooked in salted water
carrots, cooked with the potatoes
Put a large can of chili and 1 can of tomatos in the crock pot. Add the potatoes, carrots, and the amount of water that you desire, to the crock pot. Cook on high to get it heated, then cook on low or warm.

SCRIPTURE MEMORY MONDAY. . .40 Days of Love. . .What Matters Most. . .2 Days til my Blogiversary Giveaway. . .Beautiful Weather of All Kinds!. . .
Scripture Memory Monday, because our church began 40 Days of Love last night, so I guess I will be trying to work on at least one simple verse every week, now.
The main verse for this week is:
I Corinthians 16:14
NLT
"Everything you do must be done with love."
NIV
"Do everything in love."
I repeated that verse with my pastor last night, then wrote it out this morning, prayed it, and meditated on it all day, and thought about it as I tried to teach, tried to reach my hard to reach students.
Following is the lyrics to a song that was sung at the church service last night,
"WHAT MATTERS MOST"
Filling this verse with superlative words
Making the most clever rhymes
Wouldn't amount to much
Just wouldn't count for much
If you can't read between lines
But I have discovered
I've finally uncovered
A most significant thing
It's a noble theme
What matters most
Is how much we love
What matters most
Is how much we give
What would it matter
If we just lived
Without loving our God
Without loving each other
Faith, hope and love, especially love
That's what matters most
What matters most
Once just a girl
In a curious world
Learning the meaning of life
Tell me what is the reason
And why do the seasons keep turning
The pages of time
I had to discover the things from above
For the days turn so quickly to years
Then they disappear
Not money, not power not fame or position
Don't want it, don't need it
don't give me religion
All I wanna hear All I wanna see All I wanna read about is
All I wanna live
All I wanna know
All I wanna be about is Love,
what matters most
Givin' love, what matters most
What matters most
Is how much we love
What matters most
Is how much we give
What would it matter if we just lived
Without loving our God
Without loving each other
What matters most is
How much we love
Setting our sights
On the needs of our brother
Loving our neighbor as we love ourselves
We give to the Lord
When we give to each other
Faith, hope and love, especially love
Faith, hope and love, especially love
That's what matters most
What matters most
God's love for us is just so amazing. If we just let it overflow from our hearts to others, it is so amazing what LOVE can do!

So Long, Insecurity Book Discussion Assignment Week 6
hmmm, I guess if I have to choose one, I would say "gods". I don't like to think that I would ever view them as either, but it's probably actually a little of both.
2. Based on Chapter 10 and your own day-to-day observances, what differences do you see between men’s insecurities and women’s?
I think men's insecurities are usually based on how they are providing for their family. which would be how they are doing as a husband and dad.
I think women's insecurities are usually based on how insecure we feel in our looks and also on how we feel we are doing as wife and mom.
I re-read the chapter, and realized that men have insecurities about their looks, too, of course I did know that!
Both genders can have insecurities related to jobs, and both genders can also feel insecure if we do not feel loved and appreciated. Actually, after re-reading the chapter, it seems that both genders have insecurities about most of the same things. Maybe, for some reason, we let ours cripple us more. (?)
3. On p.208 in Chapter 11, I suggest that women who struggle with insecurity tend to be particularly taken with 2 divine attributes: omnipotence and omniscience.
Did either of these resonate with you? If so, how?
I have never thought I was a controlling mom or wife, but sometimes I want to know everything that is going on in their lives and sometimes I wish I could fix things for them or keep them from getting hurt.
If you are reading this book, I would love to hear from you.
Just a reminder, if you would like to be entered in my drawing that I will do next Wednesday on my "blogiversary", please scroll down 2 posts to the Happy Blogiversary-Good Luck. . .
Happy Friday to all of you!

SCRIPTURE MEMORY MONDAY. . ."a lamb without blemish or defect". . .
I Peter 1: 17-25NIV
Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially,
live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear.
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers,
but with the precious blood of Christ,
a lamb without blemish or defect.
He was chosen before the creation of the world,
but was revealed in these last times for your sake.
Through him you believe in God,
who raised him from the dead and glorified him,
and so your faith and hope are in God.
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth
so that you have sincere love for your brothers,
love one another deeply,
from the heart.
For you have been born again,
not of perishable seed,
but of imperishable,
through the living and enduring word of God.
For,
"All men are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of the Lord stands forever."

SPIRITUAL SUNDAY. . .Our Weakness, His Strength
I am going through a health issue that is making my flesh very tired and weak.
Friday's JOURNEY devotion was truly perfect for me.
I am learning how to be secure in God's love. I am meditating on hundreds of scripture verses that tell us about God's strength, power and victory. . .
and then I am hit with something at work that can make me feel very insecure.
Today, just before my daughter arrives, I am spending solitude time in her room, "doing Chapter 9" of Beth Moore's book, So Long, Insecurity,
A Time and Place to Heal (a personal prayer time).
Okay, now to choose my top 5 scripture passages out of about 600 that tell us about the Lord's Strength, Power and Victory.
Psalm 73:26NIV
My flesh and my heart may fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
I John 4:3-4NIV
This is love for God; to obey his commands, and his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
Isaiah 40:28-31NIV
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles,
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 41:10NIV
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Proverbs 31:25NIV
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
Kalyn is home, now! Yay!

TO TELL THE TRUTH TUESDAY
I had said on my response to Beth Moore's question last week of what my 2 most primary roots of my struggle with insecurity are. . .
fear of rejection and disposition.
I listened to chapter 6 again in the car and realized that Beth said we all have a pride problem, and I could relate to everything she said about
PRIDE.
It even seems that Pride might be the cause of my fear of rejection.
I can be a very humble person, but I am owning my Pride Problem, too!

SPIRITUAL SUNDAY. . .So Long, Insecurity Book Discussion Assignment Week 4. . .Strength, Power, Victory!
It is still Sunday. I am getting this posted today.
First, I want to share this link with you, to Beth Moore's Living Proof Ministries blog post from yesterday when she asked us to share scripture verses that have at least one of these words:
***It's Sunday evening and you just passed 500 comments on this post. YOU DID IT, GIRLS! Honestly, this is the most exhilarating thing I've ever seen. As you know, we've posted Scriptures many times, especially through our 2009 SSMT, but this is the first time we've had a theme like this. These verses will stand a woman to her feet and put a shout of praise on her tongue. Let's remember this spot, Siestas, so we can return to it many times. As my grandmother used to say, "It'll cure what ails ya." Memorize the date of the post - 3/6/10 - and turn back to it any time you need Christ to fill your sweet soul with an extra measure of divine strength. Thank you so, so much for your participation here.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.Psalm 73:26NIV
I may come back and edit this, but for right now, I'm saying,
THANKFUL THURSDAY

Pursuing LOVE. . .It is not Rude.

"To Tell the Truth Tuesday"
I'm not doing really great on any of the goals that I made for the year. . .
Reading the Bible through and
Speaking in a Kind voice, but I'm am still working on both of those, and on all of my goals for the year. http://sandys-scriptureandprayer.blogspot.com/2009/12/goals-for-2010.html
What I am succeeding at is:
continuing in my practice of memorizing scripture, (began last year, and continuing)
getting up earlier to have my Quiet Time (done before, but had not been doing it this year, so began last week, observing Lent for the first time)
Starting my day in God's word helps me and all around me to have a much better day
and attitude!
I really love that Beth Moore sparked a fire that is continuing to burn in so many of us for scripture memory.
So, how are you doing?
