PSALM SATURDAY. . .SPIRITUAL SUNDAY

Psalm 27NIV
Of David.
Theme: God offers help for today and hope for the future. Unwavering confidence in God is our antidote for fear and loneliness.
1The Lord is my light and my salvation---whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?
4One thing I ask of the Lord,
this is what I seek;
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
and to seek him in his temple.
13I am still confident of this;
I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
14Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
I finished listening to all of Beth Moore's book, So Long, Insecurity, and everything that I am reading today, seems to be about responding to Fear.
From the Journey devotion today,
Fear is the emotional pain in the soul of unbelief. When we feel fearful, it is God's warning light to us that we need to respond with faith; fear and faith cannot exist simultaneously in our souls.

  1. When I woke up this morning and heard of the earthquake in Chile and the Tsunami advisory in our area(I live on an island), I immediately thought of Psalm 27 and the post I wrote yesterday. How afraid the people must have been in four minutes of intense shaking! How afraid, I could be (but choose not to be)of the possiblilty of coastal flooding. There are a lot of things going on in our personal lives and in the world that can cause us to be fearful. But we need to remember that God is our stronghold.
    Thanks for sharing this!

  4. Blessings Sandy...Beautiful Psalm to choose for today! Love what you share on faith & fear! May the LORD be your(our) light and salvation today!
    May we be confident of this: that as we seek to dwell in the house of the LORD, we will see the goodness of the LORD! Let us wait for the Lord and watch...as quickly as tragic things are happening in this world, we must have hope & faith! Thanks for sharing God's Word! EnJOY a Spiritual Sunday!

  6. There is so much to fear in our world today. I'm sure it has always been that way. Thank you for these thoughts on how to deal with it. Reminds me of the scripture that says that perfect love casts out fear.
    Blessings,

  8. Great post, Sandy! Thank you for sharing, and I've heard the same thing as Joan. It's spoken of often in the Bible. Fear is not of God and yet, there's so much of it among His children.

    God bless you!

  9. I think fear is when the enemy is trying to rob us of the good things God has for us. God's first words to his people usually include: Fear Not.

    Thanks for sharing.

  10. thanks for this encouraging post...Fear was something that took a long time to get over for me...someone told me it's the opposite of faith and you can't walk in the two at the same time...Have a great week. Sarah
