My Birthday Prayer for Kalyn. . .So Long Insecurity

My grown up daughter, when she was 2 years old.
She is 20 today, and she is in love.

This is a "combined post" about my daughter turning 20, and about how much I am enjoying listening to Beth read to me as I drive. I bought Beth's new book for Kalyn and one for myself. As I was walking out, I saw that the Audio Set is read by Beth, herself. I went back in and bought it. I bought the book for Kalyn, not because I think she's "insecure", but because I pray for her to become secure.
She knows God loves her, and she has an intimate relationship with Him, but. . .
she is female.
Beth's book really is great for every woman to read! (or listen to Beth read it to you!)

My Prayer for Kalyn

Dear Lord,
I know that Kalyn does "know full well" that
"your works are wonderful", that
she is "fearfully and wonderfully made".
I know that she knows that
You have "plans to prosper" her
"and not to harm" her,
"plans to give hope and a future".
I know that Kalyn does
trust in You with all her heart.

I just pray that she never forgets
any of that for 1 second.
I just pray that on those days
when she feels like
she's not good enough,
she'll quickly remember
none of us
are good enough. . .
but because of You,
she is always
Beautiful and the Best,
created by You,
for a Purpose,
a life
to serve and glorify You.

I pray that she'll build
the special relationships
that You give to her,
but that she'll never
look to anyone
for more than they can give. . .
for that comfort that
only You can give.

Dear Lord,
I know that You
have a very special purpose
for my beautiful daughter.
I know that You
are going to use her
to counsel and minister
to many people.
I thank You that
You are always with her,
in everything she does.

Dear Lord,
I thank You
so much, for allowing me
to be her Mom.

Happy 20th birthday, Kalyn!
I love you!
I am linking this to Spiritual Sundays http://bloggerspirit.blogspot.com/
and I am praying for Micey, who is going to Haiti to minister to others.

  2. Thanks for your comment on my blog. What a sweet post to your daughter. I don't think anyone is secure at 20, it's sort of a crazy time in life- but she'll get there I'm sure :)

  6. Is Kayln still at OBU?
My niece is going to school out of state and misses OK so much & has thought seriously about OBU.
If you'd like you can e-mail me at vchris79@live.com. :)

What a beautiful prayer. One I would like to copy for my own daughter who is grown & married, but like all of us needs reminders of who we are in Christ & His love for us. That was so sweet! Your daughter is blessed to have such a sweet momma.

    Have a great weekend.
    Love,
    Valerie

  8. AMEN to your beautiful prayer for your sweet daughter. I am thinking she is a very blessed girl indeed. I am going to get that book next week for sure. I have been hearing such good things. And at your suggestion I think I will pick one up for my daughter too. She is 23 and like yours not really insecure. But we ARE women is such a good point. Have a great week-end, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your daughter. Debbie

  10. A beautiful tribute to a beautifual daughter.
My girls are also in their 20s. It is wonderful to see them grow up and become independent, but also sad to leave the "nest."
    Have a great week.

  15. Happy birthday to your beautiful daughter and that's a very nice prayer for her. It makes a difference when our children grow up with prayer coverings!!! Beth Moore is surely an effective writer for the Lord's Kingdom. I have some of her books and the one you mentioned sounds awesome [again]. God bless you and thank you for reminding us the same that our "security" comes from Christ alone!

  16. Sandy - what a beautiful heart-touching post. I loved it so much. And something else - my first memory verse last year was Proverbs 3:3-8, so I love your "Tablet of the Heart" title.

I may have to get the set of Beth reading the book - that would be so special!

Bless you friend. I enjoyed your blog so much.

  20. I have a 19 year old daughter that is off at her 1st year in college, so I can relate!!! I was looking at Beth's book and was wondering if she did the reading. In her other ones I have, she does not. It seems like a different book without her distinct voice. :) Thanks for sharing!
